About us

Dear Compatriots, dear Friends of Switzerland,

The history of the Swiss Club Tokyo began in 1974, when some Swiss Embassy staff members first invited the local Swiss community to a garden party at the old Embassy. The purpose was to bring Swiss people together, establish contacts with newcomers, make friends and exchange experiences. The party turned out to be a great success and the idea to establish a Swiss Club in Tokyo was born. Today, the Swiss Club Tokyo counts about 200 members from the age of 1 to 85.

We organize a variety of events throughout the year, such as the Swiss National Holiday party (1st of August), some fun weekends at the sea, a spring barbecue, a Ski holiday in the Japanese Alps, a gorgeous Year End Party, etc.

Every last Monday of the month, some of us usually meet at a cosy restaurant near Tokyo Station to socialize over a drink and nice food. No need to sign up - just drop in, if you feel like it.

If this sounds interesting to you, fill out the application form and send it to to the following email address:

There are three types of membership:
Individual (JPY 3000/year),
Family (JPY 5000/year) and
Student (JPY 2000/year).

Also, in addition to our regular activities, and in the trend of the current times, we have launched the Facebook group “Swiss Community in Japan”. This closed group shall serve as a sharing platform for Swiss citizens in Japan, as well as for Friends of Switzerland, who would like to stay in touch with Switzerland and socialize with Swiss people.

Any member who has been accepted into the group can post anything on the page of the group and share it with all other members of the group.

For example, if you love the outdoors and are looking for some people to go on a hiking trip together, simply create an invitation on the page. Or your kids have grown up all to quickly and you are stuck with closets full of disused toys, why not post an offer to give them away to a young family? Maybe you found a great restaurant and would like to introduce it to other people - go ahead and communicate this to the “Swiss Community in Japan”. The possibilities are endless!

So why not join this group? Simply click on “join group”, and once your request has been approved, you can start posting.

If you have any further questions, you can contact us at the following email address: or call 03 5449 8422.

We are looking forward to meet you soon!
